Charles M. Duncan is the Managing Director of Cost Segregation at Tri-Merit, bringing nearly 30 years of specialized experience in cost segregation and fixed asset reviews. His extensive background encompasses tax depreciation strategies and asset management, having collaborated with clients across various industries, including banking, airlines, entertainment, hospitality, insurance, and real estate development. Charles has conducted and managed thousands of cost segregation studies for both family-owned businesses and Fortune 500 companies.

Before joining Tri-Merit, Charles held positions at KPMG and EY and has also served as the National Practice Leader for multiple cost segregation practices. His expertise in cost segregation empowers businesses of all sizes to optimize tax depreciation and maximize financial benefits.

A sought-after speaker and educator, Charles specializes in depreciation-related topics, including Tangible Property Regulations (TPRs), the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), the CARES Act, the Investment Tax Credits (ITC), and a recent focus on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) or “Big Beautiful Bill”. Over the past decade, he has delivered hundreds of hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) nationwide, sharing his knowledge with professionals in the field.

Charles earned a Master of Architecture (M. Arch) from the Tulane School of Architecture, which enhances his approach by combining technical expertise with a deep understanding of design and construction. Beyond his professional career, Charles is an avid traveler and passionate photographer, continually honing his skills while exploring the world.
