The Unique CPA Virtual Conference (Everything you need to know)

Tri-Merit is hosting our 1st Annual The Unique CPA Virtual Conference this December.

As we wrap up 2021, we’re putting together a great event to give accounting professionals like yourself a chance to pause: to recharge, re-focus, and refine.

Throughout the sessions, our guest speakers will show you what’s changing in the industry; recent developments thought leaders see, as well as some strategies you can use to improve your firm’s performance and accelerate growth.

You may even get a new perspective or two on the accounting industry.

Why bother attending a conference anyway?

It’s a fair question. Half a day is a lot of time to spend not doing client work.

But beyond the fact that The Unique CPA Virtual Conference is free and all sessions are eligible for CPE credit, there’s another benefit.

As professionals, we sometimes get so focused on knocking off the tasks in front of us that we forget to take a step back and look around at what’s happening to the world around us.

We forget to think critically about how we’re doing what we’re doing (and if it needs to be done at all).

We neglect the big picture, the strategic view.

And that’s the intangible benefit of a conference. It’s an opportunity to network and connect with other like-minded professionals—a chance to think about the business side of accounting and how it fits into your practice.

Who else is going?

The content of this conference will primarily focus on practice management topics and tax.

It’s open to all but best suited for CPAs, Tax Managers, Managing Partners, and tax managers. If you attend, you’ll get a chance to connect with others in the accounting industry and maybe come away with an expanded network and some new ideas about improving your business.

Agenda and Speakers

Randy Crabtree, CPA | Tri-Merit Specialty Tax Professionals

The Unique CPA Virtual Conference host is also holding a session on permanent tax incentives and credits. He’ll focus on what your clients need to know about post-COVID-19 tax relief.

Over the past two years, the federal government created a host of tax credits and relief measures designed to help businesses through the pandemic. Many of these are still in effect, and some are likely to become permanent, benefiting your clients’ businesses for years to come.

Randy will also touch on a few other R&D tax credits and energy efficiency tax credits that can improve your clients’ cash flow.

John Garrett, Corporate Culture Catalyst | Thought Provoker

Have you ever thought about how you could build stronger teams and better relationships with both coworkers and clients?

John Garrett will show you how to do just that by teaching you how to identify and leverage what makes you and your organization unique.

Jordan M Goodman HMB Law | Partner, State, and Local Tax (SALT) Group

In his talk, “Nexus Post Wayfair and Pandemic. Do I Have to File Everywhere on Everything?” Jordan will explain the constitutional and statutory obligations to file tax returns at the state and local levels.

He’ll show you a variety of strategies on where and when to file and how to proceed if you haven’t been meeting those obligations.

Kristen Rampe, CPA | Rampe Consulting

Partner compensation can be a touchy subject; it affects your company’s and your partner’s bottom lines.

Kristen will show you some modern tweaks you might want to make to your partner’s compensation system. Because getting compensation right can help you get the most out of your team AND improve your bottom line.

Joshua Lance CPA, CGMA | Lance CPA Group

Beyond compensation, how else could you modernize your firm? The past two years have shown many of us that operating virtually can work and work well.

Joshua will give you a look at the process of becoming a virtual, highly-niched CPA accounting firm and how implementing a virtual model might help you run your firm better.

Nick Pantaleo, CPA | Tri-Merit Specialty Tax Professionals

This past summer, Tri-Merit conducted a comprehensive, independent survey of the public accounting industry to understand how accountants are incorporating R&D tax credit services in their businesses.

To wrap up the business part of the conference, Nick will walk you through the results. Here’s a hint: R&D tax credit as a service is a vast untapped opportunity for our industry and your clients.

What are You doing on December 2nd?

A conference like this is a great chance to get some outside perspective on what’s happening in the accounting industry outside of your firm.

It’s also an opportunity to think strategically about your business and how you can better serve your clients. Click here and register to attend the 1st annual The Unique CPA Virtual Conference, happening on December 2nd, 2021.
